Patient-Oriented Problem-Solving
(POPS)
Packages in Pharmacology
The POPS packages are designed to help students learn concepts in the
medical sciences by interacting with their peers in groups of four. They
can easily be adapted for groups of other sizes. The packages were formerly
distributed by Upjohn, but are now owned and distributed by the Association
for Medical School Pharmacology (AMSP). There is no charge for this service.
Three new POPS have been added to the original ones: Treatment of Psychosis,
Antimicrobial Therapy, and Chemotherapeutic Challenges. Two of the older
POPS have been revised and updated (Drug Use in the Elderly, and Treatment
of Essential Hypertension). Minor revisions have been made to Antimicrobial
Therapy, The Treatment of Psychosis, and the Pharmacokinetics in the Treatment
of Asthma packages.
The Treatment of Essential Hypertension package has recently been updated.
The table below indicates the POPS exercises in Pharmacology that are
currently available. The date indicates the most recent update. Formatting
problems in several of the packages have recently been corrected. These
packages are available now only in electronic format, and only to bona
fide teaching institutions.
All packages are in Microsoft Word 97/98/2000/2001 format.
We welcome any input on the content of packages, as well as offers to
write new packages and to revise and update the older ones. |
