The Health Sciences Center Environment

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport has about 600 students enrolled in either the School of Medicine, the School of Graduate Studies or the School of Allied Health Professions.

In 1994, LSUHSC-Shreveport opened the Virginia K. Shehee Biomedical Research Institute (BRI), an architecturally innovative structure with ample state-of-the-art research space. The BRI is linked to the main medical school building and provides space for the Department’s faculty. In 2000, the LSUHSC Research Core Facility was established to provide use of sophisticated instrumentation for modern molecular techniques. These resources offer an excellent environment for graduate training in a variety of pharmacology subspecialties.
