Information for International Applicants |
|||||||||||||||||||||
Because of the new regulations of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, the reporting and record keeping requirements for foreign students have increased the time required to process these applications. Therefore, it is important that all of the application materials be sent to us as soon as possible. Mrs Carol Peterson, the Coordinator for Immigration and Naturalization for LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, will issue a certificate of eligibility (Form I-20 A-B) to a prospective foriegn student after the application materials have been received and approved by the Department. Also, if you are planning to bring your family, we will need the name of each individual, their relationship to you, and their date of birth, place of birth, and country of citizenship. Although there are graduate assistantships available, a student cannot depend solely on an assistantship for support during his/her first year of graduate studies. You must supply the department and the school proof of adequate financial support for one academic year (12 months) including personal funds, family funds, funds from the school, or funds from your country. This information is also required by the U.S. Immigration Department in order to obtain a student visa. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
